#Together We Can Do Anything

Some days become most memorable to us due to several reasons. It might be some wedding ceremony or college reunion or a trip to some exotic place. But there are some  moments which become memorable in the simplest, most effortless manner. Some moments of unmixed happiness and optimism, making everyone involved in the process, happier people.

My maternal aunt’s son, my cousin brother, whom I dearly call ‘chhotu bhaiya’ (younger brother) has been a brilliant student from the  beginning of his studenthood. He used to top in all the exams in his school and had scored 94% in the ISC exam. We are all so much proud of him! But he was never a nerd, rather, he liked to spend his time playing table tennis and chess. It’s because of him, I’ve grown an interest in chess and, my concentration and skill have increased too. Now I can apply logic to anything I do.

Chhotu bhaiya has been always our inspiration. When last year he started preparing for the IIT admission exam, we all had high hopes for him. All of our relatives thought he would be able to crack the entrance exam with flying colors. But God thought otherwise and, Chhotu bhaiya remained unsuccessful. I still remember his sad face when he came to our house. He looked devastated as if the world has ended for him. The sadness was unbearable for him because it was the first failure in his life.

Next week was his birthday. Though my uncle and aunt and every one of us consoled him and tried to encourage him, but he was as disappointed and sad as he was the before. Nothing was working. He was not even answering to his friends’ calls. On his birthday, we all,  (elders and youngsters; our gang of cousins and siblings) decided to give him a grand surprise to cheer him up.

We invited a few of his closest friends and almost all the relatives who were in town at that time. We planned to order a cake with the saying ‘Failure is the pillar of success’ made on it with chocolate. My mom made ‘poha’, his favorite dish cooked by my mom. One of our uncles bought some books which would be needed by him when he would be preparing for the next year IIT entrance exam. Yes, we all decided to motivate him in every possible way so that he should be able to find the way to success.

When we reached aunt’s house Chhotu bhaiya was still in his own room. He didn’t get a single hint of our ‘conspiracy’. We waited for others to come. When almost all of the relatives and his friends gathered, we suddenly entered his room and within a moment the room looked like a big bazaar. Everyone was singing  the ‘happy birthday’ song, his friends were jumping and  shouting along with us. Happiness was all over.

Chhotu bhaiya was touched by our love. His face lit up when the uncles told him that there’s always a second time and, he should try with more diligence and determination next time. We all assured him and encouraged him that he will succeed. He was slowly returning to his normal self. We spent that evening with so much joy and happiness. We were happy for him and he said that he was happy again because of us. #Together we made him enthusiastic and hopeful once again. The power of togetherness has so much strength, it can change the life of any person. Housing.com rightly says, “Most times, it’s the company that matters more than the advice, and that is the power of being #together!”

So, that was one of the most memorable days of my life and, I’m proud that we #together made our Chhotu Bhaiya optimistic enough.

I’m happy to be a part of Housing.com, a wonderful site.
